Does Ekōwhai manage the project?
Ekōwhai manages the project end-to-end. Providing a seamless and stress-free process is of the highest importance to us. We take care of the project from the beginning - managing the consent process, site specific requirements, foundation works to the entire build process, completion and handover. During every step of the process you’ll be provided with updates so you’re informed about your Ekōwhai home.
How is Ekōwhai energy efficient?
We ensure energy efficiency through airtightness, thermal insulation, mechanical ventilation heat recovery, high performance windows and thermal bridge free construction. Because we deploy this methodology, our homes produce clean air all year round. We can create significant energy savings for the homeowner with our low energy consumption housing.
What is a prefabricated home?
Pre-fabricated (prefab) homes are manufactured off-site in a controlled environment, before being delivered and assembled on-site. By utilising this method, we can speed up the construction time drastically, delivering a high quality home.

Where does Ekōwhai service?
We are currently servicing the Auckland Region, but will soon be servicing the North Island. Delivery costs are excluded from our offering, however once we know the delivery location, we will provide you with accurate costing for delivery. Ekōwhai manages the entire delivery process for you.
How long will it take to build an Ekōwhai home?
Up to 12 weeks from delivery onsite to completion.
Do I need to organise site service connections?
We will assist with these requirements and all services will be carried out by our dedicated team. One of our project managers will arrange a site visit to determine appropriate service and foundation requirements. Due to the nature of each individual project, foundation and site specific requirements are excluded from our pricing. Once the appropriate solution is determined for your site, our team will be able to provide you with accurate pricing for service connections, site specific and foundation works.
What windows do you use?
We use high-performing double-glazed windows which help us achieve our energy efficiency target in every Ekōwhai home. Double-glazed windows keep our homes warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer, reduces condensation, reduces noise pollution and saves on energy costs.
Do your homes come with a warranty?
Ekōwhai Homes come with the 10-year Halo Guarantee through New Zealand Certified Builders (NZCB) from the date of practical completion.
What is the difference between Ekōwhai’s panelised solution and SIP panels?
Traditional SIP panels use polystyrene or polyurethane insulation properties. Whilst they provide a heating and cooling solution, plastics are not environmentally friendly due to their manufacturing processes and their resistance to decomposition in landfills. At Ekōwhai, we use natural materials that are good for the planet, and consider our future generations to come. With global warming on the rise, we are committed to providing a sustainable solution that considers the environment, reducing harmful toxins by using low-toxin materials in our panelised solution. We know the decisions we make today will help to create a better tomorrow.
Are your homes and panels building code compliant?
Yes our panels are compliant with NZ Building Code NZ3604. Our floor plans are consent ready and we will work with clients during the entire consent process.
